Taste of Education 2025: A Night of Culinary Excellence and Mentorship

This year marked the 40th anniversary of The Education Fund’s Taste of Education, an event that has become a staple in Miami’s culinary and hospitality scene. Held at the iconic Hialeah Park, the competition brought together over 30 Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ culinary programs, giving aspiring young chefs the opportunity to showcase their talent, creativity, and dedication.

For the third year in a row, Adina Brunetti, founder of AB 27 Group and Adina Creative Food, had the honor of serving as a judge, alongside some of Miami’s most renowned hospitality professionals, including Allen Susser, Letty Alvarez, Matt Kuscher, and Danny Serfer. With $20,000 in prizes on the line, these student chefs delivered impressive dishes, demonstrating their passion, technical skills, and culinary vision.

As a long-time advocate for education and mentorship, Adina sees the Taste of Education as more than just a competition—it’s a launchpad for the next generation of chefs.

"Every year, I am amazed by the level of creativity and dedication these students bring to the table," said Adina. "This event is not just about winning prizes; it’s about inspiring young chefs, giving them real-world experience, and showing them that a career in hospitality is filled with opportunities."

Reflecting on this year’s competition, Adina noted the emerging trends in the industry that young chefs should embrace.

"Sustainability, plant-based cuisine, and global fusion flavors are shaping the future of food," she shared. "I encourage young chefs to explore these trends, experiment with bold flavors, and think about how they can contribute to a more sustainable and innovative industry."

She also emphasized the importance of business acumen for aspiring chefs who dream of owning their own restaurants or food ventures.

"Passion alone isn’t enough—you need to understand marketing, financial management, and customer service to truly succeed in this industry," Adina advised.

Beyond her role as a judge, Adina remains committed to mentorship and supporting young talent through her various business ventures and industry collaborations.

"The Taste of Education is an incredible platform, but it’s just the beginning. We need to continue creating spaces where young chefs can learn, grow, and connect with industry leaders," she said.

As Miami’s hospitality scene continues to evolve, events like the Taste of Education prove that the future of the industry is in good hands. With the right support, resources, and mentorship, these young chefs are well on their way to making their mark on the world.
